another sweet, sweet newborn session to share from earlier this week. little mr lane put up quite a fight to my ideas about curled-up, sleepy images… but i just happen to have more patience than a 2-week-old, so lane finally succumbed to his very full belly and sheer exhaustion of being awake for two whole hours :)
yesterday i had my first vendor booth at the birth and baby fair, in mission plaza downtown slo. i was honestly a little nervous about having to compile display items and then talk about myself all day long, but it turned out to be a really wonderful event! many, many people stopped by and commented on or asked about my tissue paper pom-poms… i learned how to make them from a martha stewart tutorial, available here: http://www.marthastewart.com/how-to/tissue-paper-pom-poms-how-to
and of course, i have to share a few images from the event :)
thanks to everyone who stopped by, and to my special helpers, alyson and symphony! (click their names to see pics of them with their kids – by me of course!) oh, and i still have a few special promo offers available! the next two people to book a session will get their entire $250 session fee applied to prints and products. it’s an awesome deal!
i photographed olivia as a newborn. she was one of the most beautiful and sleepiest babies i’ve ever had the opportunity to work with! i was excited to see how this girl had grown over the past six months. she was social and smiley and happy… until i pulled out my camera. then she gave me some very concerned looks. by the end of our session, she’d had quite enough with me and wasn’t the happy baby her parents know her to be, so we added a mini-session another day in hopes of catching more of those sweet smiles.
just a quick share from this sweet family with four wild and crazy boys! these boys are always so fun and open to playing around with me (i photographed them last year too… here)
this is one of my favorite images of the year :)
i met this outgoing family with 3 crazy boys last year just before the twins started kindergarten… just over a year later, everyone has grown about a foot and they now have a long-wished-for baby sister! we went back and forth on the weather this day – it was overcast, then clear, seemed like it would hold out long enough for our session… so we went for it. sure enough, it started raining at the very end.
a few weeks ago, i offered mini sessions in san luis obispo. of course families are anticipating using these images for holiday cards, so everyone is dressed in warm clothes for our fall/winter weather. and of course we have our typical fall heat wave and it’s 88 degrees that day. regardless, these boys were just wonderful to photograph.
this is my third session with kyler and lake (well, the lake was still in his mama’s tummy for the first session last year) and i just love watching these boys grow. kyler wasn’t quite sure about me, but he did turn on his male model charm for this first shot:
sweet baby brother lake…
and the boys together:
this little girl was just pure perfection… flawless skin, plenty of hair, and just as sleepy as could be.
these sweet girls surprised their mama by arriving nearly two months early! i feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to capture their very early days at home.
i won’t lie. little miss braelyn just wanted to party. well, party like a one-week old can… by staying awake and making eye contact. despite being drunk on milk, she’d wake up after snoozing for about three minutes. but when she did sleep, she made the cutest, sweetest smiley faces. here are just a few from our session:
i was quite excited when i received an email (last night!) from stephanie telling me that her twin boys had arrived and they were ready for their first photo shoot. i arrived at their house this morning and spent a few hours with these sweet, gorgeous babies. i’m simply amazed with multiple babies (and especially the mamas who carry and deliver them.) these boys were so comfortable and content being squished and piled on top of each other and were just so fun and easy to photograph.
these boys are identical. so identical that their sleep-deprived new parents might have painted a someone’s toenail so they’d be able to keep the boys straight. (so, that’s vincent on the left and anthony on the right. i took notes.) :)
these are favorites of mine… at the end of our session, i had them sleeping face-to-face, their arms were tangled and they ended up holding hands (did i mention that i’m amazed with twins?) i love that these images feel so squished and womb-like.
